Disneyland seems to be constantly under construction and evolving. We just got a major renovation and overhaul with Pixar Pier and a completely rethemed Tower of Terror. In addition, the densest and arguably best-designed land in Disneyland is even better. Tropical Hideaway opened in Adventureland in December and totally maximizes the almost imperceptible dead space that remained in the area. 2019 is no different. We will continue to see some exciting changes at the Disneyland Resort in the years to come. Here are the most exciting things on the Disneyland horizon.
Get Your Ears On
This is going to be a celebration of Mickey and Minnie Mouse that will last until spring. This is going to be an all-out festival not unlike Pixar Fest was in 2018. The celebration is in part the 90th Anniversary as much as it is a tribute to the iconic couple. Under this event, changes at Disneyland include special menu items. Plus, there will be a lineup of entertainment and characters to commemorate the special occasion.

You can’t miss Mickey’s Mix Magic either. It’s a sound and projection show that will dazzle guests on Rivers of America, Main Street USA, and It’s a Small World.
Exciting Festivals and Events
There is also an exciting lineup of festivals coming to the Disneyland Resort that will help enhance your vacation and transform the area for returning locals. For the Lunar New Year Celebration, the focus will be on the Three Pigs. Hopefully, this year’s food offerings will feature less pork. After the Year of Pig celebration at California Adventure, the Food and Wine festival will follow close behind.
Do you know What is and Isn’t Included On A Disney Cruise?
There are also special nighttime events coming up, including Sweethearts’ Nite on February 7. This extra ticket event the week before Valentine’s Day is an after-hours opportunity to celebrate that special someone. There is also a 90’s themed Disneyland After Dark event coming up on March 7.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is just around the corner. It’s going to be a totally massive and engaging experience that will transform Disneyland forever. The new changes at Disneyland brought about by Star Wars are unlike anything since Mickey’s Toontown opened in 1993. The land will feature brand new music from John Williams, two immersive attractions, and interactive elements that will put you in the world of Star Wars in a way never before seen with other movie franchises.

Smugglers Run actually lets you complete a mission on board the Millennium Falcon in a motion simulator with a 360 field of vision and real-time controls. The ride will reportedly impact your experience in the rest of the 14-acre land depending on how well you do. Less is known about Rise of the Resistance, but the mysterious attraction may be an even more thrilling Star Wars experience than getting to fly the Millennium Falcon in Smuggler’s Run.
Did you know Disney Made MAJOR Change to Character Meet and Greet
New Pixar Pier Attractions
Pixar Pier unveiled most of its changes in the summer of 2018, but there are still two attractions that have yet to surface on the studio themed boardwalk. King Triton’s Carousel was removed to make way for Jessie’s Critter Carousel which will open later in the year. The Inside Out neighborhood will also open an attraction called the emotional whirlwind. This whirling kids ride will be a repurposed Flik’s Flyers from the now-closed A Bug’s Land. Which brings us too…
Marvel Changes at Disneyland
Flik’s Fun Fair and the greater A Bug’s Land area is now closed. The not-so-scale accurate exercise in shrinking guests to the size of a bug was no match for the impressive achievement of Cars Land. Also, with Pixar Pier, giving the studio so much additional real estate, it was time to use the space for something new that will give a less represented studio some ground. It’s long been anticipated that Disney would put a Marvel Land somewhere, and it’s finally happening.
French press is now widely reporting that Rock n’ Roller Coaster at Walt Disney Studios Park will close on September 2 for its transformation into an Iron Man coaster as part of the upcoming Marvel Land.

No word yet on when it will open, but we do know that the land will be connected with Guardians of the Galaxy and that it will feature Ant-Man and Doctor Strange in some capacity. There is already an Ant-Man ride coming to Hong Kong Disneyland, so it’s possible the same 3D interactive shooter will come to Disneyland Resort as well. There have also been rumors of a Spiderman ride, which will use web shooters. We can’t wait to find out!
