Disneyland Plans for Marvel Avengers Campus is Back on Track After Long Delays - Opens June 2021

Disneyland Plans for Marvel Avengers Campus is Back on Track After Long Delays - Opens June 2021Disneyland has officially announced a launching date for its new Marvel Avengers Campus after almost a year has passed from its originally planned opening day. The new park will merge Marvel’s superheroes with the Magic Kingdom and would have opened last year July if not for the unexpected pandemic that disrupted Disneyland’s original plans.

The 6-acre themed land, based in California, is highly interactive and carefully based off of the original characters, so much so that the Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige swears by it. According to their press release, visitors will get a chance to pair with their favorite superheroes, enjoy the Guardians of the Galaxy ride and watch an acrobatic robot Spider-Man swing 60ft in the air.

What You Can Expect in the New Avengers Campus

The new Avengers team park will feature a life sized Spider-Man, roaming superheroes, and shawarma food carts (Iron Man, anyone?) will be available at the new Disney park.

According to the head of the company’s parks division, its opening day will come weeks after the resort in Anaheim, located about 35 miles southeast of Los Angeles, begins welcoming back guests on April 30. The Avengers’ Land will open to the public for the very first time on June 4.

The new “superhero recruits” will be able to find superheroes as they roam the park, like getting to meet Dr. Strange at the overgrown ruins of an Ancient Sanctum. You will also be able to meet Black Panther, Black Widow, Iron Man and the Avengers’ crazily advanced aircraft named Quinjet. There are only two places that you’ll get a glimpse of the aircraft: in the movies or at Disneyland.

There’s also a Spider-Man ride called ‘Web Slingers’ which is designed to combine physical and virtual environments and guests are allowed to team up with Spidey to capture out-of-control Spider-Bots. It works with capturing the eye and arm movements of visitors, thus allowing them to shoot virtual webs from their hands.

The chairman of Disney parks experiences and products, Josh D’Amaro, revealed the rescheduled opening date, also offering a glimpse of the Avengers attractions during a pre-taped video shown to reporters.

“You will swear Peter Parker’s right there,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said of Spider-Man’s alter-ego.

The Spider-Man will perform acrobatic stunts above the park’s rooftops. According to a statement by Disney, the character is a ‘stuntronic’ robot designed to perform somersaults while flying 60 feet in the air.

The Avengers Campus backstory sees the facility as a former Stark Industries secret complex that has been redeveloped by Iron Man’s Tony Stark as a training ground for the next generation of superheroes. It assumes that the “Avengers: Endgame” never happened, and the superheroes are free to come and go from Avengers Campus as they wish.

Booking Tickets and COVID-19 Guidelines

People hoping to visit the campus will need to book reservations in advance and are required to follow COVID-19 safety precautions that includes wearing a mask and social distancing.

According to California state law, public events must be held at limited capacity.
