Disneyland Reopening April 30 - Visitors Will See Big Changes Made to The Haunted Mansion

Disneyland Reopening April 30 - Visitors Will See Big Changes Made to The Haunted MansionDisneyland news reveals that Disney Parks is spilling some scintillating secrets about the park, specifically about one of the attraction’s most popular rides.

The news has to do with changes being made to the spooky and spectacular Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Resort, in anticipation of the park’s reopening on April 30th following a lengthy coronavirus hiatus.

The Haunted Mansion Will Look Different the Next Time You See It

The Parks Blog reported, “Upon your return to the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland park, you may discover the ghosts have been busy updating a few elements in and around the estate….”

For starters, the original portrait, “April to December” is back on the walls. That painting hung in the hallway with the other Spooktacular portraits, but in 2005 the magnificent lady was replaced by Master Gracey when the transformation effect was upgraded.

That mistake has been fixed! Fans will now be able to see her again, as she hangs on the wall across from the Doom Buggies in the load area. As fans walk toward the Buggies, she will magically age from young to old.

An Original Portrait Is Back on the Walls

In addition to being a really cool portrait, “April to December” depicts the horrors of aging. It was done by Marc Davis and once again has pride of place.

Michele Hobbs managed the attraction’s refurbishment and she previously explained why the impressive painting was removed. According to her the four-scene portrait didn’t fit in with the 2000’s technological update as the upgrade used two-slide changes.

Hobbs has stressed that the picture in place now is the original image but newly created with updated technology.

In addition to the painting guests will notice that there is a new statue of a cat. It is described as a demonic cat who is looking for a soul to take over. “You’ll see this beautiful statue of this cat,” Hobbs said. “Maybe you’ll see red coming out of its eye. Maybe not.”

But that isn’t the only change that has been made. In addition to the inside changes, there are fresh changes outside as well. For instance, new grounds details are in place at the site for dearly departed pets, representing their tales from beyond the afterlife.

In case you’d like to check out these changes before setting foot on the actual property, Disney has posted a preview of the changes to the Haunted Mansion on their YouTube below.
